Job Description:

Job Summary:   Responsible for assisting the business development efforts of the bank.  This includes generating and pursuing business development leads and representing the bank at community events.  Interact with bank management and staff to coordinate business development efforts.  This position has extensive contact with existing customers, as well as prospects and business leaders within the community.



  • Review lists, records and newspapers for business development leads: assist in contacting existing customers and prospects; work on various lists of prospects supplied by the bank for the purpose of establishing new accounts
  • Develop strong relationships with existing customers: establish and maintain a network of contacts in markets area to find project leads and generate referrals
  • Represent the bank at community functions to enhance its image and develop new business, both during and after bank hours
  • Assist in facilitating meetings between clients or prospects and appropriate bank personnel
  • Assist in developing products and services that satisfy customers and result in profitable sales for the bank
  • Gain understanding of customers’ business operations and needs, success factors and service requirements and incorporate into well-conceived account plans; build customer confidence, is committed to increasing customer satisfaction, and set achievable customer expectations
  • Expand sales within existing accounts, develop relationships with key decision makers, track and monitor account activity
  • Identify market trends, have general and detailed knowledge of markets, monitor and respond to competition
  • Develop specific goals and plan to prioritize, organize and accomplish work: achieve business plan goals, meet new business development goals
  • Champion the standards of exceptional customer relationship management 
  • Discuss customer needs, issues and concerns with the Vice President of Business Development and other appropriate bank personnel: assume responsibility for solving customer problems, ensure commitments to customers are met, solicit opinions and ideas from customers, and respond to internal customers 
  • Establish short and long-range objectives and specify the strategies and actions to achieve them
  • Monitor/assess performance of oneself to make improvements or take corrective action
  • Perform additional duties as requested, needed or assigned





Experience and Skills:



  • Ability to perform job functions independently and work effectively either on own or as part of a team
  • Knowledge of bank’s products and services features/benefits; understand and sell the bank’s full product  and services line
  • Extensive knowledge of financial institution policies and procedures
  • Strong sales, managerial and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to motivate or influence internal or external senior level professionals is a critical part of the job, requiring a significant level of influence and trust; obtaining cooperation and agreement on important outcomes via frequently complex, senior level dialogues
  • Professional level of verbal, written and listening communication skills are essential
  • Strong organizational and public relations skills 
  • Capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the Bank and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public
  • Ability to adapt to change; ability to multi-task, and highly self-motivated
  • Capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters
  • Ability to retain accounts through meeting and exceeding customers’ expectations
  • Project a professional image and impression of the bank and its integrity
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite; MS Excel, MS Word and Outlook

  • Bachelor Degree in business or finance: or a related field preferred
  • 3 to 5 years’ of similar or related experience in the banking or retail industry, including preparatory experience
  • Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 4-6 hours per day
